Kyd Brook C.S.O

Kyd Brook

London, Bromley, United Kingdom

This location is within Crofton Woods and very near the old gate post that remains from the Fever Hospital which was once there but no longer, it is just the gate post, bits of a path and some walls.
There is a combined sewer overflow (C.S.O) a little upstream from this location that is underground, this is the first easily accessible location to carry out water testing. The C.S.O discharges untreated sewage into Kyd Brook normally during heavy rain. There is an event duration monitor in place that can be looked at online via Thames Water. The brook is usually shallow and runs gently unless there is heavy rain, then it can be deep and flow rapidly.

C.S.O ( combined sewer overflow) which discharges raw untreated sewage into Kyd Brook, just ahead of water testing site, has a E.D.M ( eveng duration monitor) which showed that the last discharge was on 9/11/24 from 9am - 11:15 = 2 hrs 15 mins.

There is a known C.S.O (combined sewer overflow) a little further upstream from this testing site, which also has an E.D.M( event duration monitor) that lets you know when there is sewage discharging into Kyd Brook. I have noticed that the timings of the E.D.M are not necessarily always accurate on previous occasions and at best can be used as a guide.
Here is an example, please see the above screenshots, all taken the same day.
One shows the S.W.O discharging on 14/10/24 at 07:06am having started at 05:30am, duration 1hr 36 mins
The next shows the S.W.O discharging on 14/10/24 starting at 07:00 and still discharging at 7hrs 8 mins
The last screenshot shows the S.W.O discharging on 14/10/24 at 07:00 and stopping at 13:45 duration 6hrs 45mins.
These all overlap.

Known C.S.O ( combined sewer overflow) a little further upstream from this point, the E.D.M (event duration monitor) showed that the last discharge of raw untreated sewage entering Kyd Brook happened on 23/9/24 lasting 9 1/2hours from 00:30-10:00hrs.

The E.D.M from Thames water states that the C.S.O a little upstream from this testing site last discharged on 8/9/24 for 1 hour between 02:15-03:15 hrs.

E.D.M showed that the last discharge of untreated sewage into Kyd Brook happened on 1/8/24 from 19:30 - 23:45 hrs total = 4hr 15mins.

There is an E.D.M event duration monitor at this site because there is a combined sewer overflow a little upstream from this monitoring site. The E.D.M stated that the last sewage overflow into Kyd Brook was on the 15/7/24 for 1hr between 22:00 and 23:00, but this site often has high phosphate levels.

The E.D.M monitor stated that sewage last discharged into Kyd Brook on the 15th July 2024 for 1 hr, but there is a sewage smell still round the stream.
