Napanee River, Ontario
Ontario, Canada
This is a quiet and shallow section of the Napanee River, and the surrounding area is all farming, cattle raising, etc.
The river is fairly quick at this spot because the river is quite narrow (< 50 feet).
This is a great area for kayaking and canoeing (either upstream or downstream) throughout the Summer months.

Water is down to normal Fall levels and moving at its normal slow rate.
Beautiful late Summer day and perfectly clear skies. Conductivity and dissolved oxygen were of particular note (lower than normal and the rest of the observations down river on the same day) ... not sure why ?!
Beautiful day for photos as you can see.
The water is still higher than most Summers and running its "normal fast."
Hot and humid today with partial cloud cover. Given the high volume of rain in the headwaters, the water depth is about .25 m higher and much faster than normal at this of the summer. Noticeable variance in air temperature compared to downstream - about 4-5 C cooler.
Overcast morning.
Dissolved oxygen level is quite low (2.5) compared to all other test sites along the Napanee River (4.5+ elsewhere).
pH level (7.0) is slightly lower than other test sites along the river (7.5ish).
No wildlife observed; no algae or weeds.
All deciduous trees in this area compared to lower downstream where the riparian zone is primarily coniferous.
Water moves fairly quickly in this area, but it is still safe to kayak and canoe.
