Tributary of Classford Brook

Tributary of Classford Brook, edge of Manor Fruit Farm, Normandy, Surrey. w3w: qualified.tickles.excavated

Normandy, Surrey, United Kingdom

The stream runs along the edge of Manor Fruit Farm in Normandy, originating from springs that come off the Hogs Back (a chalk ridge).
The testing point was about 20m upstream from the Elmgrove Lane bridge over the stream. It is quite a steep bank down into the stream, but is usually accessible and in winter the water is higher so easier to reach.
On this date, the water was flowing very slowing and was very shallow.
The surrounding soil type is a heavy clay.
The land-use in the immediate vicinity is amenity land to the north with a bit of woodland and scrubland to the south.

Stream flow is lower-side of average. Some leaf debris in the water (green leaves, perhaps blown by wind or nibbled by squirrels). Flowing well

steady to fast flow and higher side of average. Have not put high as can be bank full here. had recently been higher.
there were dogs playing in the stream, so waited for water to flow to normal after their disturbance of the stream bed

Water slightly cloudy and fairly high.

Tested out of normal testing times because a combined sewer is known to overflow, potentially into the stream about 200m upstream.
Also had not tested in high flow/spate.
