Waverly Beach (west side of break wall)

Located at the end of Helena Street in Fort Erie.
Public Beach and connected parkland.
Water usually calm, but large waves can stir up on windy days.
Site chosen based on less algae accumulation, making it easier to access water for monitoring.

No debris in water. Evidence of water uses included swimming. There was no algae present. Water flow was steady and water level was average. Water colour was a greenish brown. The water was cloudy and there was no odor. No wildlife was present.

Abundant amounts of algae at the testing site. There was urban/road discharge visible. Water movement was between steady and surging. Water level was slightly higher than normal. Water colour was brown and water clarity was cloudy. There was an odour, due to the algae.

*Water sample was taken from a shallower lever than normal, due to the excessive amounts of algae in the lake at this testing site.

No wildlife observed. There was no discharge. There was algae that was evenly dispersed on the shoreline. Water uses included boating and people walking pets on the beach. The water flow was slow and the water level was average. Both the water colour and clarity was clear. There were no odors.

Recreational uses included swimming, fishing and boating. No algae in the water at our reference point, but some algae in the water and on the near shoreline close by. Water flow was slow and water level was average. Both water colour and clarity were clear. There was no odor. Wildlife included 1 gull.

There was road/urban discharge near the testing point.
Evidence of both fishing and boating
Cladophora was present in the testing area, mostly small floating mats. Significant cladophora along shoreline.
Water flow was slow and water level was average
Water was clear and there was an odour due to the algae.
Species of bird cited included red-headed woodpecker, double-crested cormorant, herring gull, killdear, and spotted sandpiper
