About

This Fall, Water Rangers is giving homeschooled youth the opportunity to create their own water testing adventure and contribute to water conservation across Canada! You will be provided with the water testing equipment you’ll need along with resources on planning excursions for parents and teachers, along with online courses and videos to supplement your learning.

You will receive a package in the mail containing a tiny water quality test kit containing multiparameter test strips and a portable thermometer. Along with these tools, you will find a field guide explaining how to use them and educational resources for exploring further. With these tools, homeschool groups will be able to test the water quality of any local waterway, contributing to an online database of water health across Canada (app.waterrangers.ca). With this valuable data, you will be helping scientists, conservationists, and policymakers make the best decisions to protect your waters! You will also have a better understanding of your local waterways and how to protect them. You will become a trained Water Ranger!

This is a great opportunity for hands-on environmental education for homeschoolers. The experiential learning of visiting a test site along with the empowerment drawn from contributing to a large scale environmental project will create lasting lessons that encourage environmentally conscious decisions.
